Biography
Talia Abrahamson is a senior at Columbia College, majoring in both Russian language and culture and English. Her professional interests include US-Russia relations, the post-Soviet space and independent media. She has interned at the State Department with Embassy Moscow and the Office of Russian Affairs, supporting portfolios on Russia’s foreign ministry and human rights. She currently interns with the US delegation to the United Nations Human Rights Council. Last summer, she worked in Riga, Latvia, for Transparency International, where she supported anticorruption efforts in the Nordic-Baltic region. Invested in media freedoms, Talia is the coeditor-in-chief of The Birch, Columbia’s Slavic journal, and a journalist since 2018 for her local Los Angeles newspaper, the Larchmont Chronicle. At SIPA, Talia is a Saltzman student scholar and research assistant for Dean Keren Yarhi-Milo. She is a recipient of the Harriman Institute Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship and Richmond B. Williams Traveling Fellowship.
