Biography

Jemima Baar is pursuing a Master in International Affairs at Columbia SIPA with a concentration in International Security Policy and dual regional specializations in East Asia and Russia and the former Soviet states. She is a member of the 2023-24 cohort of Columbia’s International Fellows Program. Her studies have been supported by the PEO International Peace Scholarship and BUNAC Trust Scholarship, two external awards. Jemima graduated from the University of Cambridge with an award-winning double starred first in theology, religion, and philosophy of religion. She was a visiting student at Peking University and has advanced proficiency in Mandarin. She has worked at the Center for Geopolitics in the United Kingdom and the Center for Advanced Defense Studies in the United States. Jemima is currently a research fellow at the US Army’s Foreign Military Studies Office, a research assistant to Professor Jack Snyder of Columbia, and a research intern at the Council on Foreign Relations.
