Biography

Harrison Gerson is a third-year student in Columbia College studying sustainable development, engaged in the circular economy, environmental tourism, and multilingualism. Harrison calls Rockland County, New York, home.

Harrison leads sustainability projects that strengthen local communities, support biodiversity, and reduce our carbon footprint . This summer, he developed sustainability plans for Columbia’s Global Center in Paris and Chile’s Tourism Federation in Santiago. Harrison also helps lead the Columbia United Nations association, most recently attending the Economic and Social Council Youth Forum and the Escazú Agreement meeting, the first intergovernmental climate agreement in Latin America and the Caribbean. With the Laidlaw Research and Leadership Program, he developed an interactive map of urban ecotourism in NYC to gain an environmentalist perspective of the city. Harrison is honored to contribute to the inaugural class of the Institute of Global Politics Student Scholars Program.
