Biography

Fatima Ahmad is a Pakistani-American undergraduate at Columbia College studying Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies (MESAAS). At Columbia, Fatima has been on the dean’s list every semester and is actively involved in a number of organizations and programs. She is a Laidlaw Research and Leadership Scholar, the managing editor for the Columbia Journal of Asia, cochair for the Soch Symposium under the Pakistani Students’ Association, community outreach chair for the Muslim Students’ Association, and a residential advisor. Previously, Fatima has worked as an intern for Senator Charles E. Schumer and at the Consulate General of Pakistan in New York. Fatima is passionate about working toward and finding solutions to a number of issues that intersect across the globe, including refugee laws, education policy, and climate change.
