IGP Scholar Daniel Siegel

Biography

Daniel Siegel is a second-year Master of Public Administration (MPA) student at Columbia SIPA, concentrating in International Security with a specialization in Technology, Media, and Communications.

His independent open-source investigations, featured in The New York Times, uncovered early instances where AI models were exploited to target judges in rural America. He has also published research on the use of technology to promote emergent millenarian movements in the Global South and how sympathizers of Al Qaeda and the Islamic State use voice clones and synthetic media to promote their ideologies. Siegel has shared his expertise at international forums, including The Hague.

He is currently an investigative analyst at Graphika, a social media intelligence company that maps the world’s online communities and conversations. His work at Graphika focuses on tracking the abuse and misuse of Generative AI by extremists and state actors.
