IGP Scholar Claudia Sachs

Biography

Claudia Sachs is a senior in the Dual-BA program between Columbia's School of General Studies and the Jewish Theological Seminary, where she studies human rights, sustainable development, and modern Jewish studies. Her work focuses on the intersections between law, policy, climate, and energy. Claudia works as a Business Development Intern at Plankton Energy, a startup that develops solar energy for schools and houses of worship. She also interned in the Pro Bono Department at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where she created resources for attorneys working on pro bono disaster relief and asylum cases. Claudia is a plaintiff in Layla H v Commonwealth of Virginia, a climate lawsuit in Virginia, and researches the connections between human rights and climate litigation. She recently published her findings in the Columbia Undergraduate Law Review. At SIPA, she facilitates climate and energy panels for the Center for Global Energy Policy. Claudia is a recipient of the Miller Human Rights Award and a member of the Columbia GS Honor Society. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, singing, and exploring New York City.
