Anton Ekelund

Anton Ekelund is a Swedish Fulbright scholar at SIPA, pursuing a Master of International Affairs (MIA) degree with a concentration in International Security Policy. Anton is a dedicated advocate for individual self-determination in the face of rising authoritarianism. At fifteen, he became the first in his family to enter politics, driven by a commitment to strengthening democratic institutions.

Anton has worked both in Sweden and internationally to support democratic development. Most recently, he contributed to the National Democratic Institute, where he assisted the political parties team. Outside his current studies at SIPA, he works as a project manager at Fores, a Stockholm-based think tank. There, he leads a novel policy initiative on Swedish development finance in collaboration with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Anton earned his bachelor's degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from Uppsala University. He aspires to build and support strong democracies worldwide upon graduation.
