State of the Race: The US Presidential Election

On Friday, July 26, the Institute of Global Politics held a Rapid Response State of the Race webinar, moderated by Columbia SIPA Dean Keren Yarhi-Milo, and featuring analysis from Columbia SIPA IGP Faculty Scholar and CNN Presidential Historian Tim Naftali, CNN Anchor Abby Phillip, and Columbia professors Christina Greer, Elizabeth Saunders, and Robert Shapiro. The panelists discussed President Biden’s decision to remove himself from the Democratic ticket, Vice President Harris’s remarkable rise to become the presumptive Democratic nominee, and possible Republican responses to these political developments and how the party can recapture the momentum after last month’s National Convention.
