IGP Rapid Response Webinar Addresses Tariffs and Their Implications
In a timely Institute of Global Politics (IGP) Rapid Response webinar on April 30, Columbia SIPA Professor of International and Public Affairs and Political Science Jeffry Frieden moderated a panel of economists to unpack the geopolitical effects of the latest round of tariffs on an increasingly fragmented global economy. Panelists included Teresa Fort, associate professor of business administration at Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business, former Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew, Professor of International and Public Affairs at SIPA and IGP affiliated faculty, Dennis Novy, professor of economics at University of Warwick, and David Weinstein, Carl S. Shoup Professor of Japanese Economy at Columbia. Frieden offered opening remarks and posed questions to the group, who explored how tariffs are redrawing the map of global trade, and what it means for policymakers, businesses, and consumers.
