Panelists discuss the role of women voters in the 2024 election

On October 9, as part of the Institute of Global Politics (IGP) Election Series, two panels of experts convened to discuss the roles that the economy and women voters will play in the upcoming 2024 US election. The event, titled “The 2024 Election: Deep Dives on the Economy and on Women Voters,” brought together experts for a discussion on each candidate’s economic plan, followed by a panel discussion on the issues most important to women voters. SIPA Dean Keren Yarhi-Milo and Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton, SIPA professor and IGP Faculty Advisory Board Chair, each provided opening remarks and introduced the panels.

The first panel, part of IGP’s Across the Aisle series, was moderated by Lizzie O’Leary, host of What Next: TBD and contributor to the Atlantic, and featured Richard Clarida, former assistant secretary of the US Treasury for economic policy and IGP Affiliated Faculty member; Abby Joseph Cohen, professor at Columbia Business School and former chief US investment strategist at Goldman Sachs; Ben Harris, vice president and director of the Economic Studies program and director of the Retirement Security Project at Brookings; and Betsey Stevenson, former chief economist of the US Department of Labor.

The second panel, moderated by Natasha Pearlman, executive editor of Glamour, featured Reshma Saujani, founder and CEO of Moms First and IGP Carnegie Distinguished Fellow; Tresa Undem, cofounder and partner of PerryUndem and gender equity public opinion expert; and Yasmine Ergas, IGP Faculty Advisory Board member.

The Across the Aisle series is made possible due to generous support from the Knight Foundation.
