IGP Across the Aisle Explores Trade and Tariffs

On October 20, the Institute of Global Politics hosted an installment of the Across the Aisle series, which features discussions between prominent domestic and global leaders with opposing viewpoints. These discussions aim to model and highlight for students the value of respectful civil discourse while facilitating dialogue across differences.

Mike Froman, 17th US Trade Representative under President Obama, spoke with Robert Lighthizer, 18th US Trade Representative under President Trump, sharing insights from their time at the negotiating table while reflecting on how to solve some of the toughest issues around trade, from navigating tariffs to building greater resilience in global supply chains to managing digital commerce.
