Experts Examine American Workers’ Attitudes Toward Artificial Intelligence

On August 5, the IGP American Democracy Initiative and the IGP Ann F. Kaplan Women’s Initiative at Columbia SIPA cohosted a webinar titled “What Do American Workers Want from AI Policy?” cosponsored by Workshop. The discussion featured Mary Beech, fellow at Workshop and visiting fellow at the Washington Center for Equitable Growth; Alex Jacquez, senior vice president of policy, advocacy, and research at Groundwork; Michelle Miller, director of innovation at Harvard Law School’s Center for Labor and a Just Economy; Ai-jen Poo, executive director of Caring Across Generations, president of the National Domestic Workers Alliance, and IGP Carnegie Distinguished Fellow; and Crystal Weise, policy and programs director at the AFL-CIO Tech Institute. The conversation was introduced by Jennifer Klein, Ann F. Kaplan Professor of Professional Practice and director of IGP’s Ann F. Kaplan Women’s Initiative at Columbia SIPA; and moderated by Alexander Hertel-Fernandez, Herbert H. Lehman Professor of Government, director of IGP’s American Democracy Initiative, and IGP Faculty Advisory Board member at Columbia SIPA.
