Experts Discuss Future of the United Nations
On September 19, the Institute of Global Politics held a webinar titled “The UN at a Crossroads: US Engagement and the Future of Multilateralism.” The discussion featured Kelley Currie, former US Representative to the UN Economic and Social Council; Maggie Dougherty, former senior policy advisor to US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley; Chris Lu, James R. Schlesinger Distinguished Professor at the University of Virginia Miller Center and former US Ambassador to the United Nations for Management and Reform; and Nickolay Mladenov, former special coordinator for the United Nations Middle East Peace Process, director general of Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy, and IGP Carnegie Distinguished Fellow. The conversation was moderated by Jonathan Lincoln, director of the Center for Jewish Civilization at Georgetown University and former senior coordination officer for the United Nations Special Coordinator’s Office.
