Sofia Houir

Biography
Sofia Houir is a student in the Dual BA Program between Sciences Po Paris and Columbia University, where she studies Political Science and Near and Middle Eastern Studies. Born and raised in northeast France in a Moroccan family, she is particularly passionate about North African diasporas in France and French and European foreign policy in the MENA region.
At Sciences Po, Sofia was actively involved in a local refugee organization teaching French to refugees and migrants. She also contributed to her campus Model UN association, organizing trips to international institutions and coordinating guest speaker events. At Columbia, she served on the Undergraduate Committee on Global Thought, conducting research on the construction of dialogue in times of crisis.
Sofia recently studied Arabic at the Qasid Arabic Institute in Amman, Jordan, and is currently interning at a Permanent Delegation to the United Nations. Outside of Morningside Heights, she enjoys running in Central Park and exploring New York in search of the city’s best matcha.
