Biography
Sarah Mathew is a second-year MPA candidate at Columbia SIPA, concentrating in International Security Policy and Diplomacy, with specializations in Technology, Media, and Communication, and Leadership, Innovation, and Design. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Cedarville University, where she focused her research on US foreign policy in the Middle East.
At Columbia, Sarah was invited to present her policy paper on women in security at the Arab League Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt. She serves as general secretary of SIPASA, SIPA’s student government, and as a SIPA admissions ambassador, where she enjoys connecting with prospective students and sharing her experiences in the program.
Sarah also supports strategic communication at the Invisible Girl Project, a human rights nonprofit working to end female gendercide in India. She leads storytelling and social media efforts that elevate the voices of girls and families affected by systemic discrimination.
Her policy interests lie at the intersection of diplomacy, emerging technologies, and human rights. She is currently completing a Google Cybersecurity Certificate and is especially drawn to career paths that bridge national security and tech policy. With a cross-cultural background and a deep commitment to service-driven leadership, Sarah is working toward shaping a more secure, inclusive, and just future.
