Rameen Dhindsa
Columbia SIPA ’26
Biography
Rameen Dhindsa is an MIA candidate at Columbia SIPA, concentrating in Technology Policy and Innovation. She earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Georgetown University and has built her career at the intersection of people, systems, and innovation in high-growth organizations.
Before graduate school, she led talent strategy and hiring for Google’s AI product and engineering teams. In that role, she witnessed the AI industry’s explosive growth without adequate safeguards, inspiring her to advance policies and frameworks that align technological progress with the public interest.
Currently, Rameen is a graduate research assistant to Professor Rumela Sen, investigating how governments leverage AI to influence electoral integrity, political participation, and access to information in the Global South. Her research combines comparative case studies, policy analysis, and governance frameworks to assess the impact of emerging technologies on public trust, democratic processes, and global stability.
Looking ahead, she aims to work at the intersection of AI product and policy, developing governance models that ensure emerging technologies strengthen rather than destabilize societies. She is particularly committed to closing the growing digital divide and advancing international cooperation on AI governance to promote inclusion and access.
Grounded in her family’s roots in Punjab, India, Rameen also supports initiatives that expand healthcare access and improve rural infrastructure in the region. Through these efforts, she has helped deliver essential health services to hundreds of residents, install solar lighting systems to improve safety, and launch a community pharmacy providing free medications.
