Joseph Karaganis

Biography
Joseph Karaganis is a rising senior at Columbia College, majoring in Philosophy and Political Science. He is interested in AI ethics, the philosophy of law, and the political economy of information. He has worked or interned at the University of Amsterdam’s Institute for Information Law, the Max Planck Institute for Legal History and Legal Theory, SIPA’s Saltzman Institute for War and Peace Studies, and Columbia’s Incite Institute.
He is a Laidlaw Scholar, Saltzman Student Scholar, and CC Rose Research Ambassador. On campus, he has served as managing editor of the Columbia Political Review, cochair of the Academic Awards Committee, and co-director of the Columbia Political Union’s Reachout initiative. During the spring 2025 semester, he was a visiting student at the University of Oxford’s St. Edmund Hall. In his free time, he likes to run, travel, read, and try his best to keep up with the New York Knicks.
