Columbia Law School JD and Columbia SIPA MPA ’29
Biography
Irmak Ersöz is a second-year JD/MPA candidate at Columbia Law School and Columbia SIPA. She is exploring how law influences economic development, freedom of speech, and democratic institutions, particularly in emerging markets. She also serves as the editor-in-chief of The Morningside Post, SIPA's independent student newspaper.
Irmak worked as an investment associate at Reaction Global, a venture capital fund investing in climate technologies. Her other work experiences span multilateral diplomacy, impact investing, and development finance, where she has sought to understand how different institutions approach development and human rights issues. Irmak hopes to use her law degree and her intersectional work experiences to promote human rights, freedom of speech, development, and the rule of law internationally, including in her home country of Türkiye.
Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Irmak enjoys traveling, reading Substack articles, cooking Turkish food, writing crosswords for The Morningside Post, and woodworking.
