Biography

Greta Herman is a dual BA-MIA student at Barnard College and Columbia SIPA, where she studies political science with a concentration in Urban and Social Policy. Her studies focus on making urban spaces more equitable across the world and promoting democracy abroad, with a regional focus on Latin America. Previously, she has worked as a congressional intern with Rep. Jared Huffman and as an intern for the Democratic National Committee. Past involvement on campus includes her time as a staff writer for the Columbia Daily Spectator under city news, where she focused on housing development and health policy in Morningside Heights. Currently, she is a staff writer for the Columbia Political Review, her most recent piece focusing on Israeli national security in the context of the Syrian Civil War. She also serves as a research assistant, where she focuses on the CHIPS Act of July 2022, aiming to identify any partisan differences in perceptions of US-China relations.
