Gil Bar-Or

Gil Bar-Or is a second-year MPA student, concentrating in International Security & Diplomacy.

Before joining SIPA, he worked for eight years as a software engineer and engineering manager at Full Circle Insights, a marketing analytics company, where he directed the company’s successful effort to achieve SOC 2 cybersecurity compliance and led development on key cloud technology integrations. Outside of work, he spent over 13 years volunteering on various Middle East diplomatic policy initiatives by organizing congressional meetings and leading advocacy efforts with congressional staff.

Seeking to merge his technical background with his passion for foreign policy, Gil joined SIPA to prepare for a career in public policy. He is particularly interested in the intersection of tech, cyberspace, and geopolitics.

Gil is currently working as an RA for Professor Erica Lonergan, investigating the evolution of cyber doctrine and culture in the US Army.

In his free time, he enjoys biking around the city, going to indie concerts, and competing in bar trivia with friends.
