Caleb Briskman

Caleb Briskman is a first-year MIA candidate specializing in International Security and Diplomacy while pursuing a Certificate in Regional Studies in Russia, Eurasia, and Eastern Europe at the Harriman Institute. He is concurrently pursuing a Master of Arts in Russian at Middlebury College. Caleb is a recent graduate of George Washington University, where he received the highest honors for a BA in International Affairs and Russian Language and Literature. He wrote his senior thesis on the impact of Russia’s full-scale invasion on Ukraine’s expansive usage of nuclear energy. 

Caleb specializes in the post-Soviet space with a particular emphasis on Ukrainian and Russian security policy. While at GW, Caleb held a number of domestic and international internship positions from security policy think tanks to the US House of Representatives. While researching Ukrainian drone technologies at the International Centre for Defence and Security in Tallinn, Estonia, Caleb published an independent analysis on Russian-Iranian relations that was later translated and republished in Estonia’s largest diplomatic magazine.

Following his commitment to international security and human rights, Caleb also interned at Perseus Strategies, a law firm specializing in political prisoners, where he worked on international advocacy efforts to release multiple high-profile arbitrarily detained prisoners. Along with internships, Caleb has worked at a number of international conferences and events both domestically and abroad. 

After SIPA, Caleb is looking to work in foreign policy in the public sector.
