Brandon Sahly

Biography
Brandon Sahly is a junior at Columbia College studying economics. Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, his professional interests include monetary policy, municipal finance, and distributive economics.
Brandon currently interns with the New York City Independent Budget Office (IBO), an agency that provides nonpartisan information about the city’s budget to the public. At IBO, he evaluates the performance of the city’s pension portfolios through the analysis of returns and investment fees. Future research projects will include a review of residential solar energy tax incentives and municipal bond tax exemptions.
Over the past year, he has worked as a research assistant for Martin Uribe and Anya Schiffrin. Brandon’s previous experiences also include an internship with Rep. Dean Phillips in the US House of Representatives. On campus, he is a writer for the Columbia Undergraduate Law Review and a member of the Native American Council. In his spare time, he enjoys reading novels, biking, and baking pretzels.
