Aurola Wedman Alfaro

Aurola Wedman Alfaro is a Master of International Affairs (MIA) candidate concentrating in Technology Policy and Innovation.

Most recently, she completed an internship with the US Department of State’s Office of Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific Islands.

Previously, Aurola worked as a social media associate at CUNY, a video production coordinator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and a public affairs trainee at the US Department of Veterans Affairs. Her service-oriented experience also includes working as a bilingual interpreter for 911 emergency calls, a hospital patient advocate, and the inaugural director of the Kopenhaver Center for Women in Communication at Stephens College.

At Columbia, Aurola serves on the board of the Responsible Tech Club and is an International Fellows Program Fellow. Outside of her studies, she is the cofounder of Borderless Colors, a creative studio specializing in photography, videography, and digital communications. Aurola is a Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellow and plans to join the US Foreign Service as a diplomat following graduation.
