Biography
Andrés Revis is an MIA candidate concentrating in Economic and Political Development and International Conflict Resolution. Originally from Holliday, Texas, he graduated from Midwestern State University’s Prothro-Yeager College of Humanities and Social Sciences with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Global Studies with a minor in French.
His academic interests include the intersection of identity conflict, human rights, and democratization. As someone committed to working with diverse populations, he has worked in teaching and administrative capacities for Community Impact, a non-profit providing free adult English classes for low-income immigrants across New York City. He was a member of the Associated Press Election Data Team for the 2024 general election, where he worked on the online election tally coverage of all races in Texas, Florida, Indiana, and Arkansas. He also researched the international trade of dual-use materials during his internship with SECURUS Strategic Trade Solutions. He previously studied French at the Institut d’Études Françaises de Touraine in Tours, France. He is fluent in Spanish and maintains an advanced proficiency in French.
He is currently an intern for the United Nations Department of Peace Operations, working under the UN Mine Action Service’s advocacy, donor relations, and outreach section. After SIPA, he plans to work towards a PhD in political science, looking at statelessness, governance, and conflict.
