Aanchal Sharrma

Biography

Aanchal Sharrma is an MPA candidate concentrating in Climate, Energy, and Environment. Her work focuses on energy transitions, climate finance, and the development impacts of climate and energy investments, with an interest in building resilient and inclusive energy systems in emerging and developing economies.

Sharma has worked with the World Bank’s Development Impact team, contributing to research and analysis at the intersection of climate, development, and evidence-based policy. Prior to SIPA, she was a senior associate at the Busara Center for Behavioral Economics, where she led multi-country research across Africa, South Asia, and Latin America and worked with organisations including UNICEF and FAO on climate adaptation, resilience, and development programmes.

At Columbia, she serves as director of Women in Clean Energy and has been a TA for courses focused on energy markets and innovation. Her broader interests span global energy markets, clean energy investment, climate finance, and the role of policy and institutions in enabling equitable energy transitions.
